About the Photographer: Jim Backus

Eau Claire has been my home for over 60 years, but I spend a lot of my free time on the “North Coast” of Wisconsin on Lake Superior. I’ve been married to an outstanding woman for almost 30 years, and have a daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter who make their home in Eau Claire as well.

I have been interested in photography for about 40 years; it fits well with my other hobby, fly fishing. I have taken workshops from well known photographers such as Layne Kennedy and John Gregor of Cold Snap Photography.

My photo collection includes photos from Baja, Mexico; all over the Rocky Mountains; the Northwest Territory and British Columbia in Canada; and of course the Lake Superior area. I try to share my love for nature and the world we live in through my photographs and I hope that you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
